When I first heard Jonsjooel’s previous single “Goodbye Ah” I was drawn in by its meditative calm and deep connection to nature. So, when I hit play on his new track, “Somewhere Else Than Here,” I expected something similarly serene. But what I got instead completely surprised me—in the best way possible. The song opens with a cool piano, which sets a familiar, introspective tone, but then it quickly shifts. The crisp percussion kicks in, and these ethereal vocals take the track in a direction I didn’t expect. It’s dynamic, unpredictable, and keeps you on edge, like you’re exploring a new sonic landscape and have no idea what’s around the corner. Jonsjooel’s ability to blend structured, cinematic soundscapes with free-flowing elements blew me away. There’s a tension between the grounded piano and the ethereal sounds above, and it feels like the whole track is balancing on the edge of something spiritual. I found myself fully immersed, as if I’d stepped into another world. It’s that unpredictability that makes "Somewhere Else Than Here” so powerful. I can’t wait to hear more from the Voices of A First Day EP.
