Finding solace and strength with Arliston's "Vertical"

Ever since being completely captivated by "Monks of Lindisfarne", I've been eagerly awaiting more new music from Arliston. Their newest track "Vertical" took me on such an introspective journey, exceeding my expectations and given me a profound personal experience. From the very first notes, "Vertical" pulled me in. Jack Ratcliffe’s deep baritone and the gentle piano introduction created an intimate atmosphere that felt like a quiet conversation with an old friend. The flutter of drum beats soon entered, gradually building a sense of growing emotion that resonated deeply with me. When Jack’s vocals soared with the plea, "how should I know just whether I can carry on?” it hit me right in the heart. The balance between introspective lows and passionate highs mirrored my own emotional rollercoaster over the past few months. The song’s structure and production are beautifully crafted, reflecting the duo’s thoughtful approach to music-making. George Hasbury’s recount of the creative process, with Sam Catchpole’s dynamic drumming turning samples into a lead feature, adds another layer of depth. It’s this attention to detail that makes Arliston’s music so impactful for me. Listening to "Vertical," I found myself reflecting on my own struggles and the challenges I’ve faced. The metaphor of an impossible vertical wall captured exactly how I’ve been feeling lately. Jack’s honest lyrics about searching for something as simple as keys or a wallet, and the frustration of not being able to find them, resonated with my own moments of feeling overwhelmed by life’s demands. It's a beautiful blend of sadness and hope, capturing the complexity of our emotional experiences.
